Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill a vacancy at Levy Mwanawasa Medical University.

JOB TITLE: REGISTRAR

JOB PURPOSE:

The Registrar is responsible for performing general administration and human resources management of the University. The Office is also responsible for providing support to issues affecting implementation of academic programmes.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

a) Coordinate student registration, admissions, administration of examinations and general academic affairs of the University;
b) Serve as secretariat to the University Council and Senate to ensure smooth conduct of University business;
c) Serve as custodian of University policies and regulations including other authorities;
d) Develop and review University policies, regulations and guidelines;
e) Provide for safe and secure environment for living, teaching and learning:
f) Provide guidance and ensure ethical conduct and University values are maintained;
g) Coordinate the preparation and implementation of the University annual work plans and budgets;
h) Coordinate the development and implementation of a performance management system and staff appraisal; and
i) Ensure preparation of University quarterly and annual reports.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL:

a) Grade 12 School Certificate or its equivalent which should include English Language:
b) A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Law, Education or any other relevant qualification.
c) Master’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Law, Education or any other relevant qualification.

d) PhD will be an added advantage;
e) Minimum of eight (8) years of work experience in University administration or Corporate management;
f) Possess proof of membership to a professional association or organisation;
g) Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
h) Must be computer literate.
