Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ) is a statutory body established in 1970 under the Nurses and Midwives Act No. 55 of 1970 with an express mandate to regulate nursing and midwifery training, education and practice. The Act was repealed and replaced by the Nurses & Midwives Act No. 31 of 1997 and Nurses & Midwives Act No. 10 of 2019, which redefined the functions of the Council and expanded the scope of practice for nurses and midwives.
The Council is therefore, inviting applications from highly motivated, result oriented, qualified and experienced persons to fill the positions of:
REGISTRATION AND LICENSING OFFICER
LOCATION: LIVINGSTONE
JOB PURPOSE:
To undertake the registration and licensing of nurses, midwives and training institutions in order to ensure legitimately qualified practitioners practice and comply to set standards.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES (MAIN DUTIES)
a) Undertakes timely registration of nurses, midwives and training institutions in order to ensure that only legitimately qualified nurses and midwives practice
b) Undertakes effectively the issuance of licenses in order to certify nurses, midwives and training institutions.
c) Undertakes effectively the maintenance of registers of training institutions, nursing homes and agencies in order to maintain a record
d) Undertakes effectively the provision and maintenance of student nurses and midwives indexes in order to ascertain entry requirements and identification to enable students access practicum sites
e) Undertakes effectively the preparation and issuance of certificates in order to validate their qualifications
f) Undertakes effectively verification of application forms and accompanying documentation in order to validate their registration.
g) Undertakes effectively the provision of secretariat services during interviews of foreign trained nurses and midwives in order to facilitate decision making.
h) Undertakes periodically the preparation of statistical reports on registration and licensing in order to inform decision making
i) Undertakes effectively the maintenance of database on registration and licensing in order to facilitate provision of information on legitimate practitioners and institutions j) Undertakes effectively the development of work plans and implementation of the Annual Performance Appraisal System (APAS) in order to monitor and evaluate performance

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
a) Minimum Primary/Secondary Education
Full Form V or Grade 12 School Certificate or equivalent
b) Minimum Vocational/Professional Qualifications Degree in Nursing or equivalent.
c) Minimum Relevant Pre-Job Experience
4 years.
d) Communication Skills
Written Skills
Able to write technical and analytical reports.
Oral Skills
Able to communicate effectively in English
e) Other Skills/Attributes

Interpersonal skills Integrity
Analytical skills Confidentiality
