SAfAIDS with support from The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) with its Partners seeks to recruit 30 Research Assistants who can ethically collect data from school going children and out of school youths on their learning of Life Skills and Health Education (LSHE) and Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) for a period of two weeks in Western and Northern Provinces.
The Research Assistants will be trained to collect the data. In consultation with the Supervisor and research team, the Research Assistants will collect data from school-going children and non-school-going young people as well as their teachers and learning facilitators. Interviews will be done at schools and from households and facilities in catchment areas of health facilities after administering informed consent. The Research Assistants will also securely store collected data, ensure that good data quality is achieved and complete data collection in a timely manner.
Required Qualifications/Experience
Full Grade 12 Certificate with at least a Merit in Mathematics and English
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in education, psychology, social sciences and public health
Certified training in Protection of Human Research Participants will be an added advantage
Experience in working with adolescents and young people on sexual and reproductive health services is an added advantage
Must read and speak English and either Lozi or Bemba.
Must be a resident of a district in Western and Northern Province
Must have experience collecting data on tablets ideally on Kobo Toolbox (proven by a certificate of completion of a research study)
Must have a cellular phone ideally a smart one
Must display the ability to create rapport with children and adolescents
Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
Available for remote data collection sites
Key Responsibilities
Collect baseline Life Skills and Health Education (LHSE) from pupils in Grade 10-12 in sampled schools and Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) data from out of school young people aged 15-24 years in sampled health facility catchment areas
Recruit study participants for interviews after administering informed consent
Ensure confidentiality of collected data is maintained throughout the research process
Must adhere to all data collection Standard Operating Procedures
