Job Title: Safari Guide
Location: King Lewanika Lodge, Liuwa Plain National Park, Zambia
Position Type: Full-Time, Live-On-Site
Gross Salary: ZMW 20,000 to 30,000 per month depending on experience and qualifications
Position Overview:
King Lewanika Lodge, situated in the pristine Liuwa Plain National Park, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Safari Guide to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep passion for wildlife and conservation, a commitment to providing exceptional guest experiences, and the ability to thrive in a remote and challenging environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and conduct guided safari tours for guests, ensuring a safe, educational, and memorable experience.
2. Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the local wildlife, flora, and ecosystems, including the unique features of Liuwa Plain National Park.
3. Provide expert commentary on animal behavior, tracking, and conservation efforts.
4. Maintain and operate safari vehicles and equipment with the highest standards of safety and care.
5. Foster a welcoming and informative atmosphere, engaging guests with stories and facts about the park and its inhabitants.
6. Collaborate with lodge staff to ensure a seamless guest experience and address any special requests or needs.
7. Adhere to all park regulations and safety protocols to ensure the well-being of guests and wildlife.
8. Assist with conservation and research activities as needed, contributing to the ongoing protection and understanding of the park’s ecosystems.
9. Act as an ambassador for King Lewanika Lodge, promoting the lodge’s values and commitment to sustainable tourism.
10. Hosting guests.
Requirements:
1. Licensing: Fully licensed safari guide in Zambia.
2. Valid Drivers License.
3. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional guiding experience in safari environments.
4. Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of wildlife, ecosystems, and safari practices, with a demonstrated ability to interpret these to guests.
5. Teamwork: Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team in a remote setting, showing flexibility and cooperation.
6. Living Conditions: Willingness to live on-site in a very remote area, adapting to the challenges of such an environment.
7. Language Skills: Knowledge of the Lozi language is a distinct advantage.
8. Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for educating and engaging guests.
9. Physical Fitness: Good physical fitness to manage the demands of safari guiding and the physical conditions of the park.
Desirable Qualities:
1. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle unexpected situations calmly and effectively.
2. A proactive approach to guest service, with a genuine enthusiasm for sharing knowledge and creating memorable experiences.
3. Previous experience in remote and challenging environments is an asset.
