African Parks (AP) is a non-profit conservation organisation that takes on responsibility for the long-term management of protected areas in partnership with governments and local communities. AP manages 23 protected areas in 13 countries covering over 20 million hectares in Angola, Benin, Central African Republic, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Mozambique, the Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Rwanda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Job Overview
To provide support to the Liuwa Camp Manager in ensuring Liuwa Plain National Park applies the highest standards in Transportation services in order to facilitate the implementation of the Conservation Strategy.
Duties and responsibilities:

Lead and conduct guided safari tours for guests, creating a safe, educational, and unforgettable experience.

Share your profound knowledge of local wildlife, flora, and ecosystems, showcasing the unique wonders of Liuwa Plain National Park.

Provide insightful commentary on animal behavior, tracking, and conservation efforts, igniting a passion for wildlife in your guests.

Maintain and operate safari vehicles and equipment with the utmost care and safety, ensuring every adventure is secure and smooth.

Foster a warm and engaging atmosphere by captivating guests with stories and facts about the park and its extraordinary inhabitants.

Collaborate with lodge staff to ensure a seamless guest experience while addressing any special requests or needs.

Uphold park regulations and safety protocols to safeguard the well-being of both guests and wildlife.

Assist with conservation and research activities, actively contributing to the ongoing protection and understanding of the park’s ecosystems.

Serve as an ambassador for Liuwa Plain National Park, promoting the values of African Parks and a deep commitment to sustainable tourism.

Host guests throughout their safari experience, transforming their journey into a cherished memory.
Required Skills and Competencies

Able to endure long hours in tough outdoor conditions.

Capable of walking long distances if needed.

Keen observation skills to spot wildlife and assess safety.

Understanding of animal behavior, habitats, and ecosystems.

Knowledge of conservation principles and sustainable tourism.

Off-road and 4×4 vehicle operation.

Valid driver’s license and relevant permits.
-
Handling and safety knowledge, especially in high-risk wildlife areas.

Ability to explain complex ecological concepts simply.

Comfortable with changing weather, guest expectations, and unexpected challenges.

Friendly, patient, and attentive to guest needs.

Strong hospitality mindset.
Role requirements

A holder of a full safari guide license (Zambian license).

Valid PSV Class B Driver’s License

Minimum of 5 years of professional guiding experience in safari environments.

Extensive understanding of wildlife, ecosystems, and safari practices, with the ability to inspire guests through interpretation.

Proven ability to thrive as part of a team in a remote setting, showcasing flexibility and cooperation.

Willingness to embrace on-site living in a remote area, facing its challenges with resilience.

Knowledge of the Lozi language is a distinct advantage.
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills fueled by a passion for educating and engaging guests.

Strong physical fitness is essential to meet the demands of safari guiding and the park’s physical conditions.
