Senior Accountant

Our Client, a firm specialized in transportation of petroleum products based in Ndola is looking for a fully qualified Senior Accountant with experience and knowledge in Zambian labor practices.

Duties and responsibilities;

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in the finance team, responsible for preparing and reviewing financial statements, managing accounting operations, and providing technical accounting guidance. The successful candidate will have strong technical accounting skills, excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure accurate and timely submission of financial reports to management and external stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain financial reporting templates and tools.
• Supervise and review the work of junior accountants and accounting staff.
• Manage and coordinate the monthly close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial data.
• Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
• Provide technical accounting guidance on complex accounting issues, including revenue recognition, asset impairment, and tax accounting.
• Stay up to date with changes in accounting standards, regulations, and industry trends.
• Collaborate with external auditors and advisors on technical accounting matters.
• Perform financial analysis and review financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Develop and maintain financial models, forecasts, and budgets.
• Provide insights and recommendations to management on financial performance and strategic decisions.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
• Identify and mitigate financial risks, including internal controls and accounting procedures.
• Collaborate with internal audit and risk management teams to ensure effective risk management.

Requirements

• Complete CA Zambia, ACCA
• At least four years practical experience in a similar role
• Proficient use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• A good team player
• Strong data analytical skills
