Requirements:

BSc or MSc in geology or relevant field
-
8 years’ minimum relevant industry experience
-
Fluency in English
-
Valid driver’s license
-
Excellent written and communication skills; ability to synthesise data and present effectively
-
Demonstrated experience with standard geological, geochemical and geophysical exploration methods.
-
Familiarity with the geology and tectonic settings of sedimentary basins and metamorphic rocks.
-
Strong technical knowledge of one or more ore deposit types and specific experience of sediment-hosted copper.
-
Exposure to generative work from concept to implementation.
-
Demonstrated project leadership, project logistics, and personal time-management skills
-
Experience with community and stakeholder interaction and exploration licensing and permitting
-
Willingness to spend extended periods of time in the field as required and good field skills and field experience from grassroots prospects through to advanced projects with significant drilling campaigns.

Knowledge of principles and practices of sustainable exploration practices

Demonstrated commitment to health, safety, and environment.

Ability to work with and motivate a diverse workgroup

Proficiency in MS suite of software

Responsibilities:
Project Management
-
Take a lead role in design and implementation of early to advanced stage exploration programs in a safe and orderly manner. This includes, but is not limited to:
-
Planning work programs and producing proposals (drilling, geochemical etc.)
-
Geological logging of RC and diamond drilling using FQM standard systems
-
Delivering mapping and soil sampling programs
-
Synthesizing various data sources from completed programs into reports and presentations using industry software, including timely contributions to daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reporting.

Liaise with the analytical laboratories to ensure sampling data is returned in a timely manner
-
Take responsibility for an assigned budget
-
Work closely and communicate well with the wider team of exploration staff and external consultants
-
Manage, and contribute to the design, establishment, and running of safe and effective field camps
-
Provide oversight across multiple projects
-
Understand and actively contribute to strategic objectives
-
Perform other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the manager
Health and Safety
-
Work closely with FQM staff and contractor partners to manage, plan and execute programs in an efficient and safe manner, in line with FQM health and safety standards. Specific tasks include but are not limited to:

Visible and felt leadership with respect to health and safety
-
Leading safety discussions in the team
-
Creating and update Risk Assessments, ERPs and workflows for projects as needed
-
Follow up investigation and reporting of any incidents should they occur
ESG
-
Consider environmental and social issues affecting exploration projects
-
Proactively identify and engage with relevant stakeholders (land owners, traditional leaders etc.)
-
Manage and facilitate engagement with community groups from project areas. Take a leading role in creating communication plans together with the project team. Create and operate channels to receive feedback from community representatives.
Government Reporting & Compliance
-
Compile annual reports and relinquishment reports for government authorities
-
Provide technical assistance to community outreach events and notification letters as required
Data Stewardship
-
Ensure that geological data is collected to a high standard and systems are in place to ensure validated and crosschecked data is supplied to the Database Administrator/Geologist for import into the Database systems.

Maintain exploration data in the appropriate online and server environments
-
Organize and check batch dispatches; monitor assay results and check for QC flags
Research
and Development
-
Lead local research initiatives proposed by team members or the central research committee
Training and Development
-
Upskill earl(ier)-career geological staff, technicians, and secondees in technical matters
-
Upskill non-geological staff in geological and software matters as and when required
