Job Description
Main Purpose:
-
Responsible for all electrical & mechanical maintenance of all production equipment, Field & Plant, as well as all maintenance of facilities on site.
Responsible for fault finding, repair and replacement of mechanical and /or electrical equipment to ensure a smooth, efficient operation of all operational equipment.

Responsible for all production equipment and facilities preventative maintenance planning and the execution thereof.

Be the first line of contact for any electrical or mechanical breakdown and furthermore, to be hands on to do repair work and if needed act as the liaison to external maintenance technical experts to support breakdown repairs.

Responsible to manage third party maintenance contractors to ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and satisfactory to industry standards, HSE requirements and regulations.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

Developing and implementing maintenance strategies, procedures and methods to ensure equipment reliability and efficiency.

Develop and implement a resource optimization strategy inclusive of predictive and preventative maintenance programs.
-
Maintain and repair plant machinery and equipment with minimal downtime.
-
Planning and executing a documented preventative maintenance system in conjunction with the field and plant operations team.
-
Be a coach and mentor by ensuring all operators are continuously coached in electrical safety procedures i.e.: LOTO, correct handling and usage of different voltage grade PPE, and any other related risk mitigation measures.

Be accountable to LOTO on site.

Identify and assess potential risks related to maintenance operations and develop mitigation strategies.
-
Be an example by always following correct procedures, safety codes and installation guidelines to ensure a high standard of plant safety is achieved.

Inspect and test machinery and equipment and detect causes of malfunctions.
-
Maintain accurate and updated records of the maintenance activities, trends and costs related to maintenance operations
-
Have and maintain an accurate, real time spare part, tool and equipment inventory system, confirm at least by a monthly inventory count.

Coordinate with external contractors, subcontractors and suppliers as needed, for the procurement and delivery of spare parts, tools and services.

Responsible for the installation, maintaining and carrying out improvements and refurbishment of equipment in the factory.
-
Responsible for the installation of new equipment and fixtures and the safe removal of old equipment.
-
Leading any installation of electrical components and infrastructure, ensuring that sign offs, risk assessments and methods statements are in place.
-
Have specialist knowledge of: Electrical motors and pumps (single and three-phase) up to 250kW, Transformers and generators (2MVA), PLC’s and plant SCADA systems, commissioning and installation, Processing line safety relays/PLC’s, Electrical single line diagram drawings (read, update, create), Complex faultfinding, Electrical distribution and ancillaries.

Dismantle machinery and equipment to gain access and perform diagnoses and repairs.

Daily inspect, record and report information that may impede the operation of the plant.

Responsible to ensure the necessary spare parts and tools required for maintenance activities are ordered in conjunction with production administration and accountability is taken for the Goods Receipt thereof.

Ensure that all electrical and mechanical equipment are operating in strict accordance with government and company rules and regulations.

Establish contingency plans to address unexpected equipment failures or emergencies.
-
Practice safe working procedure in accordance with statutory regulations. Report any near misses, incidents, accidents, risk hazards or malfunctions to the site management and take corrective and preventative actions.

Work closely with Process engineer to support the implementation of process improvement projects.
-
Develop and manage maintenance related KPI`s and ensure governance thereof is well established.

Actively participate and report on maintenance related KPI`s in daily direction setting meetings with production teams to be informed and provide feedback of ongoing maintenance.

Qualifications & Competencies:
-
Bachelor’s degree in engineering / Process Automation or Equivalent advantageous
-
Minimum a diploma N6 (Electrical) or Millwright or B. Tech (Electrical).
-
Advance knowledge doing fault finding on Multi disciplinary systems
-
Minimum of 5 years professional experience in electrical/mechanical maintenance, repairs and installations
-
Experience in Manufacturing- and Plant Automation systems including software skills in areas such as MES, SCADA, PLC, etc.

Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)

Mechanical maintenance related qualification
-
Diagnosing and solving mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and other faults
-
Trouble shooting skills and attention to detail.
-
Strong safety orientation and knowledge of regulatory compliance
-
Technical knowledge of machinery, tools and equipment essential.

Ability to perform repairs and maintenance tasks effectively and efficiently

High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.
