Senior Manager – Washing/Processing Plant

The Role
The successful incumbent will plan, schedule, and review washing plant activities to improve andenhance productivity. Responsible for the process design, operation, and implementation of the Washing Plant. To improve industrial processes applicable in the Gemstone industry to maintain efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability, and maximize profitability.
The Key Responsibilities
Achievement of production targets
-
Ensure production targets are achieved and delivered on time according to the mine’s production requirements. Oversees and assesses existing processes and workflows, and optimizes productivity by integrating new state-of-the-art technology in the Gemstone industry.
Work planning and scheduling
-
Ensure planning, scheduling, and reviewing of all washing plant works to maximize efficient production
Resource availability
-
Ensuring that the shop floor has the necessary manpower, competence, skill, knowledge, plant, and tooling required to achieve production targets
Budget proposals
-
Developing the Washing Plant’s annual budget which includes capital and operating cost estimates.

Identify and justify capital expenditures in support of process improvements. Perform project management activities and facilitate the implementation of capital projects in existing & new process areas.
Ore and stockpile control

Responsible for coordinating ore control activities, sorting ore types, and tracking ore stockpile quantities and quality within mine operations
Plant maintenance
-
Weekly maintenance scheduling and monitoring along with manpower allocating for maintenance. Planning plant improvements and implementing
Cost control
-
Control all associated operational and manufacturing costs according to the prevailing annual budget forecast
Health and Safety
-
Promote & maintain awareness and compliance of Health & Safety by best practices as per company policy and legal requirements. Implement safety programs to comply with national laws and legislation.

Ensure that equipment and processes are compliant with safety regulations.
Process improvement
-
Contribute towards continuous improvement of all processes and systems by implementing improvements in performance for the plant processes.

Oversee the selection, training, performance, and motivation of staff. Identify the strengths and weaknesses of various abstract, rational concepts, such as issues, opinions, and approaches related to a specific problematic situation to formulate solutions and alternative methods of tackling the situation by conducting risk assessments.
Workforce performance

Ensuring that the appropriate systems and processes are in place to measure and manage staff performance and to coach and develop a high-performance workforce
The Requirements
-
Bachelor of Engineering/Technology in Mineral Process Engineering or Production
-
Management from reputable Universities.

Master’s Degree in Mineral Process /Production Management Engineering will be an

added advantage.

Work with a multi-functional team to achieve project goals. Ability to manage multiple
-
tasks and projects simultaneously.

Preferred: Minimum Fifteen (15) years of work experience in a related industry with
-
Minimum of Five (5) years’ experience in a Plant Management position.

Ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering & technical drawings.

Strong familiarity with project management skills.

Possess a broad background in Process engineering/manufacturing with a wide range
-
of knowledge on processing and production processes, preferably mineral processing.

Possess strong computer skills and competency in basic MS Office applications –
-
outlook, excel & word in particular.

High level of communication skills – verbal and written
