Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mining Engineer to lead our team of local mining engineers in a challenging rock gold mining operation. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mining narrow veins (50-70 cm) in open-pit settings, with the ability to transition to underground mining as needed. A key focus of the role is to ensure careful mining practices to minimize dilution, selecting the right earth-moving and extraction equipment, and optimizing mining efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of local mining engineers in the execution of narrow vein gold mining projects, starting with open-pit and potentially moving to underground operations.
• Develop and implement efficient and innovative mining methods to extract narrow veins (50-70 cm) while minimizing dilution. Evaluate and select appropriate earth-moving and extraction equipment to optimize productivity and reduce waste.
• Conduct feasibility studies, mine planning, and scheduling to ensure the economic viability of mining operations.
• Design and oversee the implementation of mining projects, ensuring they meet safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Monitor and improve mining operations, focusing on quality control, safety, and cost efficiency.
• Provide technical guidance and training to local engineers to enhance the team’s skill set.
• Prepare reports on mining operations, including production data, equipment efficiency, and project progress.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including geology, operations, and environmental departments, to ensure seamless project execution.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.

• A minimum of [20-25] years of experience in gold mining, with specific expertise in narrow vein extraction.
• Proven experience in both open-pit and underground mining operations.
• Strong understanding of mining equipment selection, particularly for specialized, narrow-vein extraction.
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor a diverse engineering team.
• Knowledge of modern mining software and technology.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
