SENIOR PROVINCIAL ENGINEER PLANNING – NORTHERN REGION

Energy, Northern, Zambia

To supervise the planning of programmes in the region in order to facilitate increased access to electricity by rural dwellers.

REPORTING STRUCTURE
Reporting To: Regional Manager – Northern Region
Supervision Of: Geomatic Engineers (2) and Regional Engineers – Planning (3)
Interacts With: Internal and External Contacts

JOB DESCRIPTION
Technical Appraisal – Supervises effectively the technical appraisal of regional grid development projects in order to facilitate the implementation of projects
Project Tender Specifications – Supervises effectively the preparation of technical specifications for the tender for regional Grid development projects in order to facilitate conformity to expected standards.
Geomatics – Supervises effectively the capture of geomatic information in order to facilitate the physical planning of projects.
Site Assessment and Selection – Supervises effectively the assessment and selection of project sites in order to facilitate the commencement of projects.
Project Planning – Supervises effectively the planning for regional grid development projects in order to guide programme implementation.
Infrastructure Design – Supervises effectively the design of infrastructure of regional grid development projects in order to ensure they meet organisational standards and objectives.
Quality Management System – Supervises effectively the implementation and maintenance of regional Grid development quality management systems in order to ensure compliance to set standards.
Risk Management – Supervises effectively the preparation and updating of the regional risk register in order to ensure effective management of risk
Performance Management – Supervises effectively the development of work plans and implementation of the performance management system in order to monitor, evaluate and enhance performance.
Supervision – Supervises effectively human, financial and other resources in order to facilitate attainment of set objectives.

CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION
Experience: 6 years plus
Education Level: Degree
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or its equivalent
Software: Computer literate
Knowledge Of: Planning of regional Grid development projects
Skills To: Supervisory, Interpersonal, Emotional Intelligence, Confidentiality, Integrity, Analytica
Ability To: Write analytical and technical reports, communicate effectively in English and make technical and operational decisions
Other Requirements: Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia
