Overall Job Purpose

Reporting to the Superintendent, the Senior Specialist, TSF will be is responsible for ensuring that the tailing and water dams are designed, constructed, and operated in compliance with all relevant safety and environmental regulations.
Specific Job Responsibility
The specific tasks to be performed by the position holder will include:

Develop and implement tailing and water dam management plans, including monitoring and reporting systems, to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations

Conduct regular inspections of tailing and water dams to identify any potential safety or environmental risks, and develop mitigation strategies

Collaborate with other departments, such as mining and environmental engineering, to ensure that tailing and water dam designs are aligned with project objectives and regulations
-
Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards associated with tailing and water dam operations and implement mitigation measures
-
Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies, stakeholders, and other industry professionals to stay up-to-date on regulatory changes and industry best practices

Lead a team of engineers and technicians to design, construct, and manage tailing and water dams
-
Ensure that all tailing and water dam activities comply with the company’s safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures
-
Provide technical support to other departments on tailing and water dam related matters

A minimum of 10 years of experience in designing, constructing, and managing tailing and water dams in the mining industry
Qualifications
-
A Bachelor’s Degree in mining engineering, civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field
-
Master’s Degree or equivalent will be an advantage
-
Qualification in critical state soil mechanics will be an advantage
-
Registered member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ) or equivalent
-
Ability to register as a member of the Engineering Registration Board of Zambia
-
All qualifications must be verified by ZAQA
