Reporting to the Coordinator – Tailings Storage Facility (TSF), you will be responsible to assist in the implementation of operating procedures, guidelines, systems and processes to ensure effective management of the site water balance, tailings disposal and to maximize production at minimum costs while ensuring operational sustainability.

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

• Control and Monitor Tailings thickeners & systems, Tailings Storage Facility & decant pumps, pipelines, raw water, process water ponds and water control infrastructure.
• Physically conduct routine daily field checks of the Tailings Storage Facility.
• Execute improvement activities.
• Plan and facilitate the implementation of the tailing’s deposition plan.
• Ability to Mentor junior operators.
• Providing Safety leadership in health & safety which will also include HSSE incident reporting.
• Planning, developing schedules, coordinating and overseeing manpower under TSF operations to meet expected deadlines.
• Provide direction and supervise quality and quantity of work to junior and intermediate staff.
• Ensure appropriate facilities, procedures, and workforce competence to achieve legal compliance, incident prevention and the achievement of tasks in an environmentally sustainable manner.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

• Full Grade 12 School Certificate
• Minimum Diploma in Civil, Geotech or Equivalent
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in managing tailings dams in the mining industry.
• Must be Computer Literate
• Must Have a Class B Driver’s License
• Strong report and proposal writing skills.
• Ability to review reports, manage people, understand technical teams and providing mentoring and training.
