Job description:
Overall Job Purpose:
-
The position exists to Produce detailed and comprehensive Plan/Schedule of work orders for planned, routine, equipment overhaul and maintenance work and minor capital projects, providing an efficient and effective in-house work order planning service for key stakeholders.

The Planner must follow the maintenance strategy and plan in support of the goals and objectives.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
The specific tasks to be performed by the position holder will include;

Ensure to run forecast in pronto prior to planning and scheduling of Planned Maintenance activities for both calendar and hourly based tasks. To effectively manage this, the planner should make sure machine engine hours are captured into Pronto on a daily basis.
Planning
-
Liaise with work request originators or Executioners, Maintenance and Operations Supervisors and staff onsite inspections of planned work activities to ensure that work orders accurately reflect the specific actions necessary to complete the task effectively. Includes ensuring work order contain all resources, materials, tool lists, drawings, photographs, labour, special instructions and steps detailed to the point that a competent artisan can carry out their responsibilities effectively and efficiently.
Scheduling

Ensuring schedules are in line with mine production requirements. This should be made possible by having meetings with all stakeholders prior to signing off the schedule with operational team.Compliance to the Work Management Process in respect to planning and scheduling work orders within the required timeframe.Provide relevant and good quality attachments for work packs to the team members which may include but not limited to JHA’s, SOP’s, SWI’s etc. This includes the updating of any of these documents to ensure they are kept relevant and reflect “best practice”
Carry out the necessary functions to ensure all ordering and expediting of materials for the effective requirements of Maintenance is carried out.
Work through project documents and vendor manuals to assist in planning, scoping and scheduling purposes. File/ record for future reference
Backlog

Maintain the work order backlog and ensure backlog is managed to an acceptable level.Coordinate with weekly and shutdown schedulers to develop work schedule logic and timely work order release.

PM Task Maintenance

Ensure that all Planned Maintenance (PM) activities are fully specified and recorded in Pronto.Prepare and or modify PM Tasks in Pronto as identified through RCM analyses.
Parts Management

Obtain part description, quotes and complete ANSI for all new spare parts.Liaise with warehouse personnel during planning to ensure timely ordering and delivery of parts. Any other tasks as may be delegated upon by the supervisor.Ensure the parts not used from the previous weeks due to change of plan by executioners or production demands are recorded, and then discuss with executioners the next action plan. Ensure all returned parts do not stay more than two weeks at planning staging areas.
Continuous Improvement
KPI’s and Technical Advise

Prepare weekly and monthly Maintenance Department reports on section activities.

Train and assist Maintenance Supervisors in effectively and efficiently completing Pronto transactions.

Also help to run equipment cost for Management to review and make decision were necessary.

Maintain Equipment history of all major and minor tasks.

Develop and set up maintenance strategies including PM’s, BOM’s and condition monitoring for the Beneficiation of Plant infrastructure.

Evaluation of the performance of the area planners as first filter before move to the coordinator and superintendent.

Experience required to perform in this job:
-
Must be familiar with safe working practices.
-
Minimum 4 years maintenance experience on Mobile machinery environment or acceptable equivalent on underground or surface mining.

Must have worked with recognized CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), Pronto will be added advantage.

Able to read, understand and reference maintenance manuals.
-
Prior planning experience will be highly regarded.
Qualifications
:
-
Must have Grade 12 Certificate
-
Heavy Equipment Repair/Automotive Technician or Technologist
-
Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications e.g., Excel, Word, Microsoft Project, PowerPoint etc.
-
Must have a valid driver’s license and having driving experience for at least 12 months.
-
Results must be certified by ZAQA
