Job description:
Purpose
The Shift Supervisor, Production – Load & Haul (Rompad) is responsible for leading and executing load and haul activities during assigned shifts, ensuring production targets are met safely, cost-effectively, and in compliance with quality standards. The incumbent will ensure optimal deployment of equipment and personnel, provide strong team leadership, and uphold statutory and company regulations related to health, safety, environment, and production.
Key Responsibilities

The incumbent will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.

Assist in managing the section budget, including input into budget preparation and reviewing performance against financial targets.

Supervise and coordinate shift activities, including the deployment of equipment and personnel to achieve production targets.

Provide direction and motivation to crew members, ensuring discipline, productivity, and career development.

Champion a strong safety culture by enforcing safety standards and promoting best practices across the crew.

Lead and manage the performance of the crew, ensuring continuous improvement and accountability.

Maintain effective communication with other supervisors, Mine Captains, and support departments to ensure operational alignment.

Monitor equipment utilization and efficiency; identify underutilization or operational issues and provide corrective guidance to pit crews.

Perform other duties as required to support operational excellence and team effectiveness.
Qualifications

Grade 12 Certificate
-
Diploma or Degree in Mining Engineering, Mineral Science, or related mining qualification

Valid Blasting License
-
First Aid Certificate
-
Driver’s License
Experience
-
Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in open-pit mining, with at least 3 years at a supervisory level

Strong technical knowledge of heavy mining equipment and their operations

Comprehensive understanding of open-pit mining practices, safety standards, and operational planning

Demonstrated ability to lead and manage diverse teams in a high-pressure environment

Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Proficiency in using PCs and relevant mining software systems
