Specific duties and responsibilities

These will include and not limited to:

Shipping

Arrange the transportation of goods via various modes such as sea freight, air freight, road transport, or rail, depending on the requirements of the shipment and the most cost-effective method.
Prepare and process all necessary documentation for shipments, including bills of lading, export/import documentation, customs declarations, and other relevant paperwork.
Ensure compliance with all customs regulations and requirements for both export and import shipments. Stay updated on changes in customs regulations and ensure that all shipments are cleared through customs smoothly.
Negotiate rates with freight forwarders, shipping lines, airlines, and other transportation providers to secure the most cost-effective shipping solutions.
Monitor the progress of shipments and provide regular updates to relevant stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and internal teams. Proactively address any delays or issues that may arise during transit.
Analyse shipping costs and performance metrics to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements. Develop and implement strategies to optimize shipping operations.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Proven experience in shipping, logistics, or supply chain management, preferably in a similar role.
