Ministry of Education

Innovating the future of tech solutions in Zambia.

Job Description

The Government of the Republic of Zambia has received financing from the International Development Association (IDA) of the Work Bank Group to support the implementation of the Zambia Education Enhancement Project (ZEEP). The Ministry of Education (Ministry) is the implementing agency of the Project. The Project Development Objective (PDO) of ZEEP is to improve the quality of teaching and learning conditions in targeted Primary and Secondary Schools and to increase access to secondary education focusing on girls. One of the components of the project seeks to increase access to secondary education through the construction of 120 Day and Weekly Boarding Secondary Schools across all the ten (10) Provinces of Zambia.

The construction of the Schools is using what is called ‘Community Mode of Construction’ where the school assigned to manage the construction project collaborates with local communities to oversee the construction works. At the site level, the construction works are supervised by technical supervisors engaged by District Education Board Secretaries while the actual construction is done by artisans engaged from within the local communities The technical supervisors are responsible for a set of structures grouped according to lots. Each day secondary school has five (5) lots while weekly boarding schools have six (6) lots each. This means that each day and each weekly secondary school has five (5) and six (6) technical supervisors respectively.

To achieve effective management and coordination of each school construction site, the Ministry has decided and seeks to engage 120 site foremen who will be deployed to each of the 120 ZEEP Sites.
