Job description:
Overall Purpose
The specialist contracts engineer role involves supporting the planning, organization, and management of contracts. This includes assisting with contract bidding, negotiations, preparation, and administration while adhering to standards and policies. The focus is on ensuring an ethical, efficient, and cost-effective approach throughout the contract process.
Specific Job Responsibility

Develop contract plans and strategies based on Company contracting requirements.

Provide regular progress status reports on all contracting activities.

In conjunction with IT and operations, develop, implement and update reporting and management of the contract, and related systems. Implement a fit-for-purpose system to track contractors’ performance.

Work together with Operations and Procurement in regulatory compliance and interactions, claims, disputes, invoicing/payments, correspondence, review meetings, back charges, insurance, liabilities, and indemnities

Provide specific focus and compliance with respect to health and safety and loss control, environmental management, and external relations

Ensure approval and requests for contracts and execution are carried out in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures

Add to the project bottom line by strategic thinking and action to reduce effort and increase revenue by timely intervention

Provide discipline reports on a monthly and weekly basis

Provide mentoring to national staff and site planning personnel at KML and the contractors.

Co-ordinate or develop mining designs and schedules in support of regional mining contract management and major projects. Manage the plan execution.

Continuously optimize the contract mine planning process with a focus on improving contract effectiveness and efficiency

Promote Business Planning principles and direct and review continuous improvement initiatives

Recommend consideration for changes to the contracts, including those that might improve delivery of the works

Provide active advice, guidance, assistance and direction to the mining contracts

Consolidate all comments received from stakeholders for review and further inputs

Deliver Contractor capability, and ensuring relationship strength and responsiveness

Ensuring Trident delivers to plan and budgets
Job Specific Competencies

Qualification and Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mining, business, or a related field. A master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., PMP, MCIPS) is a plus.

More than 5 years of open cut experience in mining technical and/or operational roles including contract management, particularly within the mining industry.

Proficiency in analysing contracts and evaluating risks associated with contract terms.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.

Ability to manage multiple contracts and projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met.

Strong focus on accuracy and thoroughness in contract documentation and management.

Commitment to ethical practices and compliance with regulations and policies.

Familiarity with contract management software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and liaise with various stakeholders.

Valid driver’s license.
