Job description:
Purpose
Responsible for identifying staff training. Development needs and for planning, organizing, and conducting appropriate training and assessments for concentrator and hydro-metallurgical employees to achieve maximum competence, maintain, and improve the efficiency of Process operations.
Key Responsibilities
This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures, and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function. An individual must be able to perform each essential function/duty satisfactorily, including:

Liaise with relevant sections within the processing department to determine technical training and development needs in line with KMP’s short- and long-term targets.

Review and determine the needs and competence levels of employees
-
Consolidate a Process Technical training plan to meet all operational needs and deliver training to bridge gaps in employees’ skills and knowledge.

Develop training aids and materials according to identified training needs and maintain them to acceptable standards.

Updating existing metallurgical operations training packages
-
Select appropriate training methods or activities for implementation.

Liaise with trainees’ supervisors on training schedules and ensure timely delivery of training.

Assess/evaluate instructional effectiveness and determine the impact of training on learners’ skills and KPIs through deliberate Planned Tasks Observations

Maintain and manage training records and training matrices for all trainees in the approved Training/Learning management system

Develop and maintain productive relations and effective communication with stakeholders to establish training needs and report on training progress.

Practices safe work habits and follow general safety procedures

Understand and identify all relevant plant equipment, process control, and emergency systems.

Ensure that company procedures and safety regulations are reinforced to minimize accidents and optimize production.

Assist in developing new or reviewing safe operating procedures, safe work instructions, and other similar documents as required.

Maintaining an appropriate reporting schedule as determined by the Senior Specialist, Technical

Any other duties as may be reasonably requested by the supervisor in line with effective operations of the Training Department.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
-
Diploma in Process Engineering, Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, or equivalent
-
Technical Teacher Certificate / Diploma in Teaching Methodology from a recognized institution.
Experience
-
Minimum 5 years of operational experience in a Mineral Processing plant, preferably in Copper & Gold Processing Plants, is required.

Familiarity with engineering drawings
-
Sound level of literacy and numeracy
-
Knowledge of Acid Plant operations is considered an advantage.

Minimum 2 years’ experience in the Training and Development field, preferably in a Mining or mineral Processing Plant Environment.
