Reports to Strategic Information Manager. The incumbent will be responsible for all data management duties and will lead in-depth statistical analysis per programme/project needs. He/she will also be responsible for coordination with partner organizations to support data management projects.
Main duties
  • Develops and adheres to data management and data analysis plans
  • Develops automated data pipelines, from data collection, cleaning, extraction, data imports, reporting and analysis
  • Develops strategies for strict adherence to data confidentiality and privacy for standards
  • Conducts routine in-depth epidemiological/statistical analysis to gather deeper insight on implemented activities
  • Actively takes part in implementation science and operational research activities
  • Supports M&E and programme/teams in improving information dissemination efficiencies, timely submissions of performance data and reports as needed. Ensure all reports are submitted on time
  • Develops and maintains dashboards for routine progress monitoring and reporting for needs.
  • Develops of Standard Operating Procedures
  • Provides oversight over all data management processes
  • Institutes strategies for data quality improvement and use
  • Takes part in departmental and CIDRZ-wide planning activities.
  • Mentors Data Coordinators, Data Associates, and Research Assistants in efficient ways to advanced data management and use.
  • Actively supports training, mentorship and coaching of staff in understanding of programmatic indicators and overall reporting needs
  • Participates in the presentation of data to various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Trains staff on data collection and entry procedures and common errors/problems within the clinic and at other sites as requested.
  • Participates in research and grant writing activities.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Computing/ICT, Mathematics, Engineering, or related subject with 3 years of relevant work experience, or Advanced diploma with at least 7 years of relevant work experience.
  • A postgraduate degree will be an added advantage
  • Experience in an M&E team working on PEPFAR MER indicators will be an added advantage.
  • Medium to advanced programming skills in Python, Java, C# or any OOP/functional language
  • Advanced skills in database management, with an ability to write advanced SQL in either of MS SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
  • Medium to advanced skills in data analysis, and conversant with either of R, STATA, etc
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work in a very high-pressure environment, with work extending beyond late hours and over weekends and holidays
  • Very good interpersonal skills and excellent team player
