Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly motivated and committed employee for the position of
Superintendent Ancillary Rubber Tyred

Reporting to the Assistant Manager – Workshop, you will be responsible for the maintenance of the of the Caterpillar 994F, 994K, 993K Wheel Loaders and Other small loaders, Caterpillar 777 Trucks and Komatsu 785/CAT 777 Water Trucks, Bell Water Trucks, Fuel bousers and other rubber tired ancillary equipment. Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

Promote and encourage compliance with the Safety & Health and Environmental policies, standards, procedures, and regulations.

Ensure personnel are adequately inducted in their work area and are aware of all workplace rules and critical procedures applying at LMC.
-
Actively contribute to site safety policy and new initiatives and implement change as directed by the General Manager and management team.
-
Actively promote, monitor and enforce compliance of personnel with safe work practices.
-
Ensure all incidents are reported and investigated according to Company policy and statutory requirements and all recommended corrective actions are completed.

Ensuring environmental risks of tasks are assessed and mitigated.
-
Adhering to environmental procedures to ensure good housekeeping, resource conservation, spill prevention and the appropriate disposal of wastes.
-
Reporting all environmental incidents to supervisor after implementing immediate corrective action.
-
Promoting environmentally sound work practices in peers and contractors. Informing persons in work area (employees, contractors and visitors) of LMC’s Environmental Policy and Practices and notifying supervisor if persons refuse to comply.
-
Develop and maintain a team structure that adheres to Barrick’s Organizational Framework policy, enables teamwork and personal development while focusing on the achievement of results.
-
Ensure training and coaching is provided to all employees, with specific attention to National and Local employees as part of the Company’s Training and Localisation Plan.
-
Ensure all members of the team have clearly defined accountabilities and roles and that individual development plans are in place to enable goals to be achieved.
-
Ensure all members of the team receive feedback on their performance and participate in formal performance review processes.
-
Develop a succession plan for direct report roles.
-
Assist in implementation and management of Barrick’s program for graduate professionals.
-
Assist the Management – in a support role with regards the management of planned maintenance and scheduling of services.
-
Work with the coordinator and supervisor to achieve production and cost targets in conjunction with the daily, weekly, and monthly mining plans that correspond with the annual production target.
-
Cascade plan and objectives through the team to ensure all activities are focused on agreed outcomes and reflected in the short-term mine plans.
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

Full Grade 12 School Certificate
-
Advanced Craft Certificate/Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
-
Certified Mechanical Trade qualification.
-
Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia.
-
Minimum 8 years working experience with Heavy Earthmoving Equipment.
-
Experience in large multi pit operations utilizing large scale mining equipment.
-
Minimum of 5 years frontline supervisory experience.
-
Demonstrated safety leadership for both self and for a team.
-
Able to clearly demonstrate the aptitude to drive a light vehicle and hold a current Zambian driver’s license or be able to obtain one.
-
Competent in incident/accident investigation
-
Proven ability to deliver results and act as a change agent.
-
Demonstrated ability to lead a team safely and improve team safety awareness.
-
Experience in managing costs and budgeting.
-
Demonstrated application of continuous improvement ideas
