Job description:
Purpose
To safely execute electrical maintenance and installation work according to prescribed standards and statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Adherence to Policies and Regulations
-
Adhere to all pertinent requirements, policies, procedures, and legal requirements pertaining to health, safety, environment, and quality, as well as any other regulations as necessary by the company and relevant to the role and responsibilities.
Direct Supervision and Daily Activities
-
Direct the day-to-day activities of the Electrical Section under your supervision to maximise efficient and safe production.
Installation
-
Install new electrical systems, and replace old, faulty, or redundant electrical systems according to company and vendor’s safety and quality specifications.
Electrical Protection
-
Ensure that all electrical equipment has the correct hardware interlock and safety parameter settings for effective and safe operation.
Maintenance
-
Adhere to the company’s planned and preventative maintenance schedules and procedures.

Effectively maintain the electrical equipment with minimal effect on plant production.
Reporting and Record Keeping
-
Compile detailed reports on all activities, plans, costs, and labour.

Report all incidents immediately to the Senior Supervisor.

Complete and sign weekly and monthly safety logbooks and safety registers according to the procedure.
Stock Control
-
Ensure that stock levels of electrical equipment are maintained in the warehouse.

Communicate new stock requirements for all critical items to the Senior Supervisor to ensure minimal effect on production in the event of a failure or plant production.
Tools and Audit
-
Ensure the correct and safe usage of all hand tools within your section.

Record the replacement of tools in the relevant register.

Ensure the highest safety standards on the condition and usage of all electrical test equipment.
Training and Development
-
Ensure all necessary training is scheduled and attended for all employees to comply with all safety standards and statutory compliance.

Identify the need for specialised training requirements for subordinates.
Transport
-
Ensure daily transport checklists are completed and vehicles are in a safe, working condition.

Ensure all requests for service are adhered to.

Ensure no person under your supervision is operating any equipment without an official permit.
Other Duties
-
Ensure subordinates adhere to time and attendance policies.

Perform any other duties as directed by the Senior Electrical Supervisor.
Qualifications
-
Minimum of a Grade 12 Certificate.
-
Electrical Craft Certificate.
-
Valid LV Driver’s Licence.
