VACANCY ADVERTISEMENT: SUPPLY CHAIN INTERN – FS

Lumwana Mining Company is offering an internship development program to highly committed individual to gain industrial experience in the Supply Chain Department under the Mineral Resource Management – FS Section. We are in search of individuals who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Supply Chain Officer, you will be responsible for providing efficient delivery of procurement services, through the provision of sourcing services and enhanced procurement of goods and services. Your duties will include but not limited to the following:

• Assist in undertake sourcing activities to comply with legislation, company policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
• Assist in the provision of timely and efficient sourcing services that strive to exceed customer expectations /meet deadlines.
• Assist in the day-to-day management of suppliers, particularly in the areas of order management, discrepancies resolution and expediting and payment assistance.
• Assist in undertake continuous reviews of all aspects of the procurement operations to ensure opportunities to add value, minimise risk and enhance shareholder value are identified and implemented.
• Assist in engaging and maintaining a high service level with end user / site customers.
• Assist in engaging and maintaining a high on time delivery service level with all applicable suppliers.
• Assist in Ensuring all purchases are in accordance with all HSE standards.
• Ensure you take a proactive approach to understand customer and technical needs for both stock and direct charge purchases.
• Ensure prompt needs analysis has been carried out for all sourcing activities and adjudication is processed within the stipulated time frames
• Assist in preparing comprehensive price adjudications for standard Stock and direct purchase items.
• Identification and implementation of cost saving.
• Assist in communicating item description, supply, and specification changes to inventory department to ensure stock catalogue is correct and up to date.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

• Grade 12 Certificate
• Degree in Purchasing and Supply or equivalent.
• Recent graduate from both Public and Private universities/Colleges.
• Have an in-depth knowledge of and understanding of international procurement processes.
• Proficient in Microsoft office package
• Must be a member of ZIPS and or CIPS.
