Job purpose
The Talent Manager is responsible for supporting key HR functions across multiple regions, with a primary focus on recruitment, compensation and benefits research, employee engagement, and Learning & Development (L&D) for the Zambia, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Denver teams. This role ensures alignment with global HR policies, and adherence to local labor laws, and fosters a positive and growth-oriented employee experience. Reporting directly to the Director of Talent, the Talent Manager provides critical HR support to enhance talent acquisition, retention, staff engagement, and professional growth.
Duties and responsibilities
Administrative Support (25%)

Oversee and optimize the HR Information System (HRIS) platform (e.g., BambooHR) to keep employee records, performance evaluations, and other critical HR data accurate and up to date. This includes managing access, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring seamless functionality.

Act as the primary point of contact for external vendors, including benefits providers, recruitment platforms, and training consultants. Manage contracts, address service-related issues, and ensure all vendor services meet organizational standards.

Support the monthly payroll process by coordinating with the payroll team, ensuring precise timekeeping, and tracking adjustments for PTO, benefits, and other compensation data.

Maintain organized, accessible HR documentation, including employment contracts, compliance records, and policy acknowledgments.

Provide logistical and scheduling support for interviews, onboarding, and recruitment events to streamline processes.

Monitor Paid Time Off (PTO) balances, track time and attendance, and ensure compliance with local labor regulations for leave entitlements.

Assist in planning cultural events, retreats, and departmental trips to foster team spirit and community.
Recruitment & Onboarding Support (25%)

Support recruitment for roles across Zambia, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Denver by handling job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, and feedback.

Ensure candidates have a positive experience from initial outreach to onboarding, aligning with Bridges to Prosperity’s global standards and local labor laws.

Partner with hiring managers to identify talent needs, develop job descriptions, and create strategic sourcing plans that attract diverse, high-caliber candidates.
Employee Engagement & Retention (20%)

Help implement engagement activities like team-building events, wellness programs, and recognition initiatives to create a thriving workplace culture.

Gather and analyze employee feedback through surveys and engagement metrics to identify trends and improve the employee experience.

Work with leadership to develop action plans that boost employee satisfaction and reduce turnover.
Learning & Development (L&D) and Professional Development (20%)

Implement Learning & Development programs tailored to meet the needs of office, remote, and field teams.

Collaborate with the Global Talent Team and regional leaders to ensure effective and impactful L&D initiatives that support career growth.

Evaluate current training programs and recommend improvements based on research and employee feedback.

Develop and maintain a repository of resources to foster continuous learning and career advancement across the organization.
Compensation & Benefits Research (10%)

Collaborate with the Global Talent Team to recommend data-driven adjustments to compensation and benefits that align with local labor laws and organizational budgets.

Manage and optimize existing benefits programs, incorporating insights on regional best practices and employee preferences.
Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

A minimum of 6 years of professional experience in manager-level human resources or talent management, with expertise in recruitment, compensation, employee engagement, and Learning & Development (L&D).

Strong knowledge of local labor laws in East Africa including Zambia, Kenya, Ethiopia, and the U.S., with proven ability to ensure compliance.

Demonstrated experience in compensation research, salary benchmarking, benefits management, and L&D program development.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across culturally diverse teams.

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.

Fluency in English is required, and proficiency in other regional languages is an asset.

Proficiency in HR systems, recruitment platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Working conditions

The position is based in East Africa, with a preference for Zambia, or Kenya

Hybrid work arrangements are available, with a mix of office, field, and remote work, subject to management agreements.

Some travel across East Africa may be required.
