The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is the implementing agency of the Federal Republic of Germany for technical and international cooperation. It offers flexible, sustainable and effective solutions in political, economic and social change processes. Most of the work of GIZ is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). GIZ also operates on behalf of other German ministries as well as public and private bodies in Germany and abroad. The aim of the project “Strengthening Girls’ Rights! Reproductive Health and HIV prevention for young women and girls in Zambia” is to support state and civil society actors in their efforts for prevention of HIV, early pregnancy and gender-based violence among young women and girls in Zambia. Cooperation with local authorities, religious and traditional authorities, parents and local health facilities is of particular importance. The project seeks to make a sustainable contribution to good governance and the implementation of a feminist development policy in Zambia. The project is part of the priority area “Good Governance” / “Peaceful and inclusive societies” in Zambia.
In this context, the project is seeking a suitable candidate for the following position:

Main tasks and responsibilities

Support the implementation of activities under Output 3, which aims to gain the support of gate keepers (religious and traditional actors, parents, teachers etc) for young people to access information and services for prevention of HIV, teenage pregnancies and Gender Based Violence (GBV).
-
Support the implementation of activities under Output 1, which aims to build the capacity of state actors, and Output 2, which aims to support youth participation and accountability.
-
Conceptualise and implement new outputs to foster prevention of HIV, teenage pregnancy and GBV.
-
Manage the partnerships and collaboration with government institutions as well as with civil society organisations.
-
Manage grants, local subsidies and other contracts.
-
Contribute to knowledge management, innovation and learning on the interventions to prevent the triple threat of HIV, teenage pregnancy and GBV among young people.
-
Facilitate exchange and collaboration with other GIZ programmes and Cooperating Partners to identify synergies and contribute to joint activities.

Support preparation of narrative reports according to prescribed templates, timelines and quality.

Prepare Terms of References and manage consultants.
-
Support the design, preparation and execution of workshops, seminars or other events.

Perform other duties and tasks at the request of programme management.
Qualifications and Requirements:
-
University degree in Development studies, Social Work, Public Health or any other relevant field that is related to the project objectives
-
A master’s degree will be added advantage
Professional experience
-
Minimum of 5 years professional work experience
-
At least 4 years’ experience working on HIV/AIDS, early pregnancies and/or gender-based violence
-
Work experience in the health and/or education sectors and/or governance sector
Other knowledge and additional competences
-
Work experience in the successful engagement of gate keepers for promoting gender-transformation and the rights of women and young people
-
Strong understanding of social norms transformation and approaches
-
Track record in the successful establishment of partnerships and networks, including with donor agencies, government institutions, civil society and/or private sector companies
-
Proven ability to design, lead and organize processes
-
Experience in managing contracts, high level events, or processes independently
-
Pro-active and results-oriented work ethic
-
High level of cultural sensitivity and diplomacy
-
Excellent verbal, writing and presentation skills in English.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a multicultural and

multidisciplinary team.

Reliable team-player, self-directed, proactive and able to work under pressure.
The successful candidate will be expected to start employment with GIZ, on a fixed term contract.
