Job Purpose
The Travel Agent will manage travel requirements made for business or holiday and you will provide tourism related services and package tours on behalf of our suppliers. The goal is to keep our clients satisfied and loyal for future services. Implement all sales activities and maximize business opportunities in your specific area of responsibility under the general guidance and supervision. The role involves generating and maintaining customers of defined accounts and areas through sales activities like face to face sales calls, telephone calls or entertainment.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:

Plan and sell transportations, accommodations, insurance and other travel services

Cooperate with clients to determine their needs and advise them appropriate destination, modes of transportations, travel dates, costs and accommodations

Provide relevant information, brochures and publications (guides, local customs, maps, regulations, events etc) to travelers

Book transportation, make hotel reservations and collect payment/fees
-
Use promotional techniques and prepare promotional materials to sell itinerary tour packages

Formulate travel trade offer letters and yearly contracts and any other required business correspondence

Implement and execute all sales objectives and action plans to reach and exceed targets set

Solicit and serve transient and group business and meetings
-
Attend all pre & post – conference meetings, as required and arranged by the event’s management department

Deal with occurring travel problems, complaints or refunds
-
Attend travel seminars to remain updated with tourism trends

Enter data into our software and maintain client files

Network with tour operators

Maintain statistical and financial records
-
Meet profit and sales targets
-
Ensure that selling strategies are adhered to during negotiations and maximize up selling opportunities whenever possible

Ensure comprehensive and up to date knowledge of properties’ unique selling points, features, amenities, services and policies

Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualifications and Experience
-
Diploma or Degree in Hospitality, Travel, Tourism, Business or relevant field

Must have a for a
minimum of 3-5 years’ work experience as a Travel Agent/Consultant
-
Must have worked or working as a Travel Agent for well-established Travel Agency in Zambia
-
Personal travel experience will be considered an advantage
-
Excellent knowledge of computer reservations systems, GDS systems and e-travelling
-
Proven knowledge of domestic and international travel trends
