Building on our proven track record, COREPlus proudly announces its expansion to the North-Western Province in Kalumbila District. The Kalumbila Livelihood Project will be involved in implementing REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) and livelihood activities, expanding our reach and strengthening our commitment to sustainable development in remote rural communities.

To support this exciting expansion and ensure its successful implementation, COREPlus is seeking a vibrant, reliable, and hardworking team of experts and field workers. These exciting positions are listed below and will be based in the heart of Kalumbila district, specifically in Mukumbi, Mumena, and Matebo Chiefdoms.

1. Livelihood Specialist Position
Livelihood Specialist Position

Responsibilities

The livelihood specialist will primarily work to improve the living conditions and income opportunities in chiefdoms especially since they depend on natural resources such as forests and land. The aim of implementing livelihood activities will be to help reduce emissions from deforestation and forest degradation and enhance forest carbon stocks, while also providing social and environmental benefits. Some of the main activities of a livelihood specialist in a REDD+ project are:

Conducting livelihood assessments and analyses to understand the needs, challenges, and opportunities of the target groups and the impact of the project interventions on their livelihoods.
Developing and implementing livelihood strategies and plans that are aligned with the project objectives and the local context, and that promote sustainable and diversified livelihood options for the target groups.
Providing technical guidance, supervision, and support to all aspects of livelihoods on the project, such as food security, cash assistance, livelihood protection, livelihood recovery, and livelihood development.
Collaborating with other project staff and stakeholders, such as government agencies, NGOs, community groups, and private sector partners, to ensure effective coordination, integration, and delivery of livelihood activities and services.
Monitoring and evaluating the progress and outcomes of the livelihood activities and ensuring that they comply with the project standards, policies, and procedures.
Reporting and documenting the results and lessons learned from the livelihood activities and sharing them with the project management and the donors.
Manage the entire COREPlus Team based in Kalumbila district, as well as work as part of the CORE Team for COREPlus Consult Limited in Zambia

Desired Qualifications:

i.        Bachelor’s degree or higher in Development Studies, Forestry, Natural Resources Management, or a closely related field.

ii.        At least five years of verifiable work experience in Livelihoods and forest inventory, demonstrating a progressive track record of accomplishments.

iii.        Proven proficiency in project planning, implementation and report writing.

iv.        Comprehensive knowledge of REDD+ and livelihood activities, their environmental and social impacts, and the ability to apply this knowledge to project implementation and monitoring.

v.        Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, fostering effective collaboration with project staff, stakeholders, and local communities.

vi.        Demonstrated ability to work independently and under pressure, adapting to changing situations and meeting deadlines consistently.

vii.        Flexibility and willingness to work within a dynamic start-up environment, embracing modest but manageable conditions and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.

viii.        Possession of a valid motorbike and driver’s license, ensuring mobility and the ability to travel extensively within the project area.

2. GIS Specialist Position

Responsibilities of the GIS Specialist
Forest Inventories and Assessments:

i.        Conduct comprehensive forest inventories using established methodologies, including transect sampling, point sampling, and remote sensing techniques.

ii.        Utilize advanced data collection tools such as GPS devices, measuring tapes, and forestry equipment to accurately assess forest resources.

iii.        Collect and analyze data on various forest parameters, including tree species, diameter at breast height (DBH), height, basal area, and volume.

iv.        Assess forest health and condition, identifying factors that may impact forest productivity and sustainability.

GIS Mapping and Data Products:

i.        Develop detailed and accurate maps depicting forest cover, land use, and other relevant spatial features using GIS software such as ArcGIS and QGIS.

ii.        Create spatial data products such as thematic maps, change detection maps, and land cover classifications to support project planning, monitoring, and evaluation.

iii.        Utilize GIS techniques to analyze spatial data and extract meaningful insights for decision-making and reporting.

Modern Spatial Data Collection Methods:

i.        Demonstrate proficiency in operating drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to collect aerial imagery and data.

ii.        Process and analyze aerial imagery using photogrammetry and other remote sensing techniques to generate detailed spatial data products.

iii.        Integrate aerial imagery and data with other geospatial datasets to provide a comprehensive understanding of the project area.

Project Implementation and Collaboration:

i.        Work independently and with minimal supervision to plan, execute, and monitor project activities effectively.

ii.        Collaborate with other project staff, stakeholders, and local communities to ensure the successful implementation of project activities.

iii.        Facilitate knowledge sharing and capacity building among project stakeholders to enhance project sustainability.

Reporting and Documentation:

i.        Prepare clear, concise, and informative weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports documenting project progress, achievements, and challenges.

ii.        Develop ad hoc reports and presentations as needed to address specific project requirements and stakeholder inquiries.

iii.        Maintain accurate and up-to-date project records and documentation in compliance with project standards.

Desired Qualifications:

ix.        Bachelor’s degree or higher in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Forestry, Natural Resources Management, or a closely related field.

x.        At least five years of verifiable work experience in GIS and forest inventory, demonstrating a progressive track record of accomplishments.

xi.        Proven proficiency in utilizing GIS software and applications, including ArcGIS, QGIS, and Google Earth, to create high-quality maps, spatial data products, and visualizations.

xii.        Experience in employing drones and remote sensing techniques for data collection and analysis, with the ability to interpret and integrate aerial imagery into spatial data products.

xiii.        Comprehensive knowledge of REDD+ and livelihood activities, their environmental and social impacts, and the ability to apply this knowledge to project implementation and monitoring.

xiv.        Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, fostering effective collaboration with project staff, stakeholders, and local communities.

xv.        Demonstrated ability to work independently and under pressure, adapting to changing situations and meeting deadlines consistently.

xvi.        Flexibility and willingness to work within a dynamic start-up environment, embracing modest but manageable conditions and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.

3. Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring the effectiveness and accountability of the Kalumbila Livelihoods project. He/she will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the M&E system for the project, providing accurate and timely data to inform decision-making and improve project outcomes.

The M&E Officer’s Responsibilities will include:

Develop and implement the M&E plan:

Design and implement indicators to track progress towards project objectives, using quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
Develop data collection tools and instruments, including surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions.
Establish data collection, management, and analysis procedures.

Collect and analyze data:

Coordinate with project staff and stakeholders to collect quarterly, semi-annual and annual forest and environment inventory data according to the established plan.
Clean, analyze, and interpret the collected data, identifying trends and patterns.
Prepare reports and presentations summarizing key findings and recommendations.
Monitor and evaluate project performance:
Track progress towards project objectives and targets, identifying any deviations or challenges.
Conduct regular project monitoring activities in all the chiefdoms, including site visits and stakeholder consultations.
Analyze data to assess the effectiveness of project interventions and identify areas for improvement.

Disseminate findings and recommendations:

Prepare and present weekly, monthly, quarterly and semi-annual M&E reports to project stakeholders, including the mine, government officials, and beneficiaries.
Communicate key findings and recommendations to project staff and management to inform decision-making.
Contribute to the development of project learning and best practices.
Contribute to capacity building:
Good in infographics, designing, and updating.
Support the development of a culture of evidence-based decision-making within the project.

Technology:

Provide basic IT support to project staff, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
Maintain and update project databases and spreadsheets.
Assisting with graphic designing and research data analysis is highly desirable.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Forestry, natural Resources or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in M&E, preferably in the context of livelihood development projects.
Strong experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis methods.
Good with forest, livelihoods and environment inventories
Excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports and presentations.
Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience working in a multicultural environment and with diverse stakeholders.
Fluency in Kaonde and English is essential.

Additional Information:

The position is based in the Kalumbila district, and residents of the outlined chiefdoms are highly encouraged to apply. Able to ride a motor bike.
Ability to work and understand the dynamics of a startup company.

4. Driver Position

The Driver will play a crucial role in supporting the successful implementation of the Kalumbila Livelihood Project and COREPlus Consult in General. He/she will be responsible for transporting project staff, equipment, and supplies to various locations within the project area, ensuring safe and reliable transportation while adhering to traffic regulations and project safety protocols.

Project Drivers Responsibilities:

Safely and efficiently transport project staff, equipment, and supplies to project sites and meetings within the project area.
Maintain a clean and well-maintained vehicle in good working condition.
Conduct regular vehicle checks and preventive maintenance as per established guidelines.
Assist with loading and unloading of project materials and equipment.
Obtain necessary driving permits and licenses for the project area.
Comply with all traffic regulations and project safety protocols.
Maintain accurate records of vehicle usage and fuel consumption.
Report any vehicle and motorbike issues or accidents promptly. Be able to ride a motorbike.
Contribute to a positive and professional work environment.

Qualifications:

Tertiary education

Valid driver’s license for the relevant vehicle category.
Minimum of 5 verified years of driving experience, preferably in rural areas, long distances and mine areas.
Clean driving record with no major traffic violations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including report writing skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong physical fitness and ability to handle heavy lifting.
Knowledge of the project area and local terrain is an advantage.
Fluency in Kaonde and other local languages spoken in Kalumbila district and English is essential.

Additional Information regarding the Driver position:

The position is based in the Kalumbila district and requires regular travel within the three named chiefdoms. A resident of the Kalumbila district is highly desirable for this position

5. Administrative Assistant – Livelihood

Project

Job Description:

The Administrative Assistant will play a vital role in supporting the smooth operation of the Kalumbila Livelihood Project. He/she will provide efficient and reliable administrative support to the project team, ensuring the organization and flow of information, document management, and overall project administration.

Responsibilities:

General Administrative Support:
Manage project calendars and schedule meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements.
Liaise with project staff, stakeholders, and partners to coordinate communication and information flow.
Ensure the office premises are kept clean and tidy at all times
Organize and maintain project documents, files, and records using electronic and paper-based systems.
Prepare and edit correspondence, reports, presentations, and other project documents.
Handle routine office tasks such as photocopying, printing, and filing.
Manage petty cash and office supplies.
Travel and Logistics:
Make travel arrangements for project staff and Coordinate logistics for project field visits and workshops.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in administrative work, preferably in a project or development setting.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Proficient in computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and email.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Fluency in Local languages spoken in North-Western Province and English is essential.
