Your next big opportunity awaits
Wildlife Crime Prevention Zambia | Lusaka
Innovating the future of tech solutions in Zambia.
BACKGROUND
WCP Zambia is a not-for-profit organisation that works nationally providing support to the Department of National Parks, the National Prosecution Authority and other conservation partners across various landscapes. WCP focuses on protecting wild species, natural ecosystems and the lives and livelihoods of the people who rely on them.
Through the Protect the Pangolins programme, WCP supports the rehabilitation and the release into the wild pangolins confiscated during illegal wildlife trade.
PURPOSE
We are looking for a new intern to join the Protect The Pangolin Programme.
Since 2015 WCP has given support to Zambia’s Department of National Parks and Wildlife regarding the care, rehabilitation and release of pangolins confiscated by the department from illegal traffickers. The WCP-DNPW Pangolin Rehabilitation Centre is the only one of its kind in Zambia. Here pangolins rescued for the illegal trade are given medical and physical care until they are well enough to return back into the wild. Highly trained staff provide round-the-clock care to pangolins that arrive with varying degrees of illness and injury. A pangolin-first approach is taken to ensure success in rehabilitation, ultimately leading to the pangolin’s reintegration into the wild.
Through its internship programme, WCP will allow a Zambian graduate to join the organisation and learn more about the conservation sector throughout the country.
